Nokia has announced that it will release three WiMAX enabled handsets in the first quarter of 2008.
This will put the Finnish manufacturer in competition with Motorola who have also committed to supporting the technology in some of their handsets in 2008.
Of course, the market will live and die by the penetration of WiMAX coverage in urban areas initially and then into the sticks. In the USA only Sprint has committed to widescale coverage and in the UK things are even vaguer, although BT announced this week that they we interested in bidding for the bandwidth when the Government auctions the spectrum.
